Day 1: Arrival at Agra – Sunset at Agra Fort & Mehtab Bagh

Your tour begins with your arrival in Agra, by train, road, or air. After check-in at your hotel and some leisure time, your sightseeing begins after a visit to the imposing Agra Fort. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the 16th-century fort was built by Emperor Akbar and later modified by Shah Jahan. Within its red sandstone walls, the important structures like the Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas, Sheesh Mahal, and Musamman Burj—where Shah Jahan was held captive in his last days with a view of the Taj Mahal—are located.

In the evening, visit Mehtab Bagh, a serene Mughal garden set just on the other side of the Taj Mahal on the Yamuna River banks. It's the ideal spot to view the monument radiant sunset colors from a distance, tourist-less. The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 2: Taj Mahal Sunrise – Itmad-ud-Daulah – Mughlai Cuisine Experience

Begin your day early by going for an early morning excursion to the Taj Mahal, the Wonder of the World. This marble marvel was constructed by Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. If the dawn's first light lies on the dome, the monument is softly golden and worth viewing and some great photo shoots. Get awed by the glory and then return to the hotel for breakfast.

Following breakfast, stop at the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, or the "Baby Taj." This beautiful mausoleum, built on her father's behalf by Nur Jahan, is famous for its marble lattice and its inlays—a prelude to the style in the Taj Mahal. In the afternoon, go to Kinari Bazaar, a chaotic marketplace lined with ethnic wear, jewelry, spices, and handicrafts. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Mughlai dinner at a recommended local restaurant, sampling delicacies like biryani, kebabs, and the famous Agra petha (a sweet treat). You’ll return to your hotel for a restful night.

Day 3: Excursion to Fatehpur Sikri – Visit Sikandra (Akbar’s Tomb)

Morning breakfast followed by an afternoon half-day excursion to the abandoned Mughal Empire capital of Fatehpur Sikri, which lies approximately 40 kilometers from Agra. Founded by Emperor Akbar, this stunning piece of Indo-Islamic architecture reflects the emperor's architectural excess. Walk through great gateways and courtyards, and access important buildings like the Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Diwan-i-Khas, and the five-storyed Panch Mahal. The religious atmosphere at the dargah of Sufi saint Salim Chishti adds a religious aspect to the experience.

Split journey on the way back to Agra at Sikandra to see the mausoleum of Akbar. This beautiful mausoleum lies in a huge garden and is famous for the fusion of architectural styles from Hindu, Islamic, Christian, Jain, and Buddhist schools of thought—befitting Akbar's secularism. A day free for sightseeing, a cultural show, walking along the Yamuna, or a visit to a nearby café. Back to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Heritage Walk – Handicraft Tour – Departure

Start your last day with an optional early morning heritage walk or photo walk tour of the Taj Mahal. Agra possesses its unique glimpse at this early morning moment when it gives its religious and cultural existence beyond the commercial tourist trail. Breakfast and departure arrangements, checkout of the hotel, and proceed to a local artisans workshop.

Agra is famous for its exquisite marble inlay work, zardozi embroidery, and carpet weaving. A visit to one of these factories provides you with an overview of the history of the art and tradition passed down from generation to generation. You can even purchase genuine souvenirs directly from the artisans. After the handicraft visit, head to your destination point—the railway station, bus stop, or airport—and say goodbye to your memorable Agra tour.
