Itinerary
Begin your yatra with a trip through Delhi to Haridwar that is full of picturesque plains and foothills of the Himalayas. Upon arrival, enter your hotel and rest. During the evenings, visit the Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri where thousands of floating diyas make the whole experience magical and spiritual. Overnight and dinner at Haridwar. You may also take a peaceful walk along the ghats before or after the Aarti to feel the spiritual atmosphere of the holy city. The calm sound of temple bells and flowing Ganga creates a divine beginning to your yatra.
Breakfast and then drive to Barkot, Yamunotri base. The path cuts across the green valleys and small towns. You can also have photos of Mussoorie or Kempty falls on the way. Get to Barkot, stay in your low-budget hotel, eat dinner, and sleep in preparation of the Yamunotri trek the next day. You will find the weather and the landscape very pleasant as you move upwards towards Barkot. The mountain breeze and picturesque turns of the highway make the trip refreshing and pleasant.
Early departure and go to Janki Chatti, the starting point of Yamunotri trek. You have an option of walking, riding a pony or hiring a palki to take the 6 km ride. Pray to Goddess Yamuna at Yamunotri Temple and have a holy dip at Surya Kund hot spring which is said to cleanse sins. Darshan, lunch and dinner at Barkot and stay overnight. The walking path is full of tiny tea stands and resting spots on which pilgrims socialize and sing hymns. The natural beauty in the religious expedition is provided by the surrounding waterfalls and mountainous scenery.
Trip to Uttarkashi, a sacred city on the Bhagirathi River. Upon arrival, take a room in your low end hotel. Drive to Guptkashi, which is along the Mandakini River, after breakfast. The road is interspersed with rivers, mountains and small Himalayan villages. Get into a low end hotel and rest. During the evening, go to Ardh Narishwar Temple, a serene site which is devoted to Lord Shiva. Overnight and dinner at Guptkashi. Guptkashi offers great sceneries of the snow-white Himalayan Mountains during bright days. The peaceful atmosphere is what makes it an ideal spot to relax prior to the Kedarnath trip.
Early breakfast, and then drive to Sonprayag, the starting point of the Kedarnath trek. You can walk, ride a pony, hire a palki or you can use helicopter (optional) to move around. Experience the evening Aarti in the valley with Himalayan peaks at Kedarnath Temple. Dinner and stay at Guptkashi. Kedarnath is very important in terms of its religious values because it is among the twelve Jyotilingas of Lord Shiva. The sublime spiritual halo of the temple leaves the religious who have profound faith and inner harmony.
Breakfast and proceed to Badrinath through Joshimath with breathtaking Himalayan scenery. Upon arrival, have a holy bath in Tapt Kund, and then darshan in Badrinath Temple.
